Today with the launch of Coreset 2021 on arena, with prerelease Friday, and landing in paper standard in July! So many great cards were spoiled and brought us so many amazing chances to brew some new decks! This is one of those decks.

I am BDC of the Magic Tavern and you may not know this about me, but I LOVE life gain. It is my absolute favorite mechanic in MTG. So, when I saw the spoilers on Vito, Thorn of the Duskrose, Wizards had my attention! Turning life gain into damage has never looked so good. When this thing hits standard, it’s going to up the game in lifelink decks for sure! To Get the full deck list click here!
This deck utilizes Vito’s all life gain is damage motif and adds to it a bit of token play with Speaker of the Heavens and Griffin’s Aerie. Because of the focus on Griffin’s Aerie and 3 life gain, I found a handful of cards both already in standard and coming this weekend that pump 3 life into your life total rather easily.
I couldn’t help but drop a bit of life gain power ramps like Ajani’s Pridemate. I also dropped Ajani, Strength of the Pride and Elspeth, Sun’s Nemesis. These cards will make sure we have a backup plan if Vito isn’t on the field and provide a bit of pressure onto our opponents. Having multiple pay offs for our life gain is the name of the game.
BUT WAIT…THERE’S MORE!
We didn’t just bring you one, but two Vito decks today! This next deck combines Vito, Thorn of the Duskrose’s ability to turn lifegain into damage with the food tokens of Throne of Eldraine. To see this full deck list click here.
One of the engines I added to this deck is the old Cauldron Familiar/Witches Oven loop that will allow for continued creation of food tokens as well as that double damage when the cat comes in.
I’ve also added M21’s Hooded Blightfang that adds lifelink to deathtouch creatures therefore adding damage to every attack.
Besides Vito, LIFE GOES ON, Trufflesnout and Elder Gargaroth makes an appearance turning their lifegain into missles of death!
So, since YOU are as much a part of our brewery as we are, let us know what you think and what you would add or take out. I have a few more ideas and will drop them, hopefully, before the release on Arena Thursday!
